Macy House (The Porches)

This steamboat style house was built around 1846 by Sol Brash, one of the early Jewish members of the community. The house has complete wrap-around porches on both levels. There is a stencil painting in the hallway, quite possibly done around the same time as the stenciled ceiling in Trinity Church. other outstanding fetures are the etched glass panels and the beautiful leaded glass inserts above. The kitchen is styled around a brick arch constructed of hand-made bricks of yesteryears. The house was referred to as "The Porches", or "Steamboat House" and is the present home of Richard and Laura Macy.
